Bought your book earlier this year, learned much. You did a great job of condensing a complex subject down to straightforward basics!Last week I put it to good use sailing Cape Cod Bay & Buzzard's Bay. In just seconds we had the boat close-hauled 25 deg off the wind (15-18 knots) doing 5.5 knots and so perfectly balanced that we could sail hands-off the wheel for 25 minutes at a time. An almost imperceptable weather helm. Almost like being on auto-pilot!Had an ASA Sailing Instructor along and he was really impressed -- read the book that night.I intend to suggest your book when I teach again this Fall.--RonD

Ron D: Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you found the material to be straightforward. I tried to make it as simple as possable. Prior to writting the book and developing my sail trim chart, I was mostly lost from a sail trim standpoint and had no idea what I was doing and that was after spending over $800 for sailing lessons!! When I would ask other sailors about twist, or draft depth, the answers I got confused me even more. My goal is that I don't want beginner sailors to have to go through what I did in order to learn to sail a silly boat. If they had only answered me in plain, simple English I probably would have gotten the message. Also, A lot of the books I used for reference told me all about sail and hull construction. I didn't want to know how to build the boat, I just wanted to know how to sail it.I left all that useless stuff (it was useless to me)out of my book.
