Crappy sailing weekend...Bad weather(liked the snotty seas though),NO promised wind, torn sails, lost charts in the water, the only wine on board were those of my kids picking at eachother. We pull in on Sunday evening and what do I find taped to my water hose...but a bottle of Saphire Blue Gin from our slip friend Randy. Randy...you put a smile on hubby's and mine faces and it was our first gift to us for us on the boat. Thank you so very very much.Randy and his wife Mary Lou are such great, genuine people. So comfortable and fun to be around. My kids adore them. We always look foward to seeing them and his Catalina at Pelican Cove. One of the surprising things

we learned when we went cruising was that over the course of a year we probably did no more (and perhaps less) ‘sailing’ than we would have done daysailing and weekending out of our home marina. The difference was that when we kept our boat in the marina, we went sailing because it was the weekend or some other day we had 'planned' to go sailing. When cruising, unless conditions just were right, the boat was good to go, and it was otherwise convenient ......well, we were already in paradise, so why move? The result was that when cruising we generally sailed in better conditions than we were used to at home.One thing we didn’t learn was the benefit of having ‘Gin’ or maybe ‘Beer’ in your boat name - thanks for the tip.
