I would like to thank all those who responded to my question about the compression pole on my '84 222. Judging from these responses, I think it would be well worth the effort to fab' a pole before I splash her next spring. That is going to my second item, my first is a single-handed mast raising system. With the passing of my Arlene last year, I really would like to spend some time alone. I can't think of a better way to do it than me and our boat, the 'Arlene Rose.'
Thanks for all your advice, George

George, I'm so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Life has so many twists and turns but we need to hang in there and keep going. Playing my guitar, sailing, and hanging out with my dog Penny has kept me well these past years. Penny has been sailing with me for nine years now and we've shared a lot of overnighters and adventures on that boat. An O'Day 222 has a comfortable amount of free board which enables me get in and out of it from my kayak. Penny has no problem at all jumping in or out of that boat from the kayak.
I'm pleased that I was able to be of some help to you on this and as far as single handed mast raising is concerned, I think I can be of some help to you on that one as well.
As a matter of fact, my system can allow you to raise/lower your mast by yourself with a CDI or similar type roller furler attached to it. I have all the pics and info. All you have to do is email me at sailtrinkka1986@verizon.net and I'll send it to you.
Good luck!
Joe
