We had some pretty rough storms in SC recently. Just checked on my boat yesterday. Absolutely no water leakage so I decided to sweep up some pollen and wipe the boat down real good.
After a few minutes, I noticed the bow dock line was not the same as I always leave it. Turns out the line broke and someone retied it for me. My best guess is only the stern dock and spring line was holding the boat at the dock. I used (up until now, gonna use more lines from now on plus hang a spare or two for easy access) only 2 lines total. They were both long enough for the bow and stern lines and the spring lines. The Good Samaritan did the best he could to tie her properly. Boy was I ever shocked to see all of this. No damage to the boat or the dock.
So, I'm off to buy new dock lines. I think the broken line was cotton but since I'm not really up on metallurgy I am not 100% sure. I'll see what West Marine has to offer.
