One of my dockmates told me termites were swarming and to keep hatches closed. I think I caught that in time, but in washing the boat I washed several from under the flange that fixes the mast to the deck. Obviously, that needs to be recaulked.
Can the flange just be lifted with the mast in place?
If so, could I just put termite specific insecticide down there before resealing?
I remember reading a thread on discovering a rotted compression post. Does the 86 31' have one, and should I be thinking of removing and renewing it?
What is the step-by-step process for resealing, if that's all I have to do. A good grade clear marine caulk?
