adjustments for a Hunter 26. The 260 is a virtual copy of this boat, only with slightly smaller shroud wires. It covers shrouds, forestay, rake and bend. You will have to install your own wire values and will need a $50 "Loos gauge". This is something I made up for my boat and I offer it with the understanding that I am not an expert in this field. The consensus seems to be: set mast rake by adjusting forestay while hanging a weight from main halyard. When the weight (a wrench or something) is 6" aft of the gooseneck (that's from the H26 owners manual) rake is correct. Center mast left-to-right, then set lower shrouds at 10% of breaking strength and uppers at 20% (those numbers will be printed on your guage, based on wire diameter.) Pretty straightforward, but takes awhile to get done. Well worth it for the performance improvement.

roller furler in the way?
Is there an easy way to adjust the tension on the forestay that has a roller furler w/sail wrapped around it? I haven't looked on my boat but seems to me that the lower furler housing would be in the way of the the forestay turnbuckle.

H260 Rig Tension
Hello. Yes Greg Emerson at the factory is correct. You want to tension the stays to 20% of their breaking strength. Take your time and do all of the other stuff first like straightening the mast with the Halkyards to equal points on either side of the boat, looking up the sail track, hanging a wrench from the main halyard etc etc etc, then tension the shrouds to the 20%. Use a wire tension guage (available from West Marine) and tension the 5/32 shrouds to 617 pounds and the 1/8 shrouds to 353 pounds. You will be amazed at how much better your 260 will sail.
