Does anyone have experience on what sort of tender works best for trailering along with the 260? I almost bought a hard hulled 9.5 ft dingy but thought I should ask for advice before I lay out any cash. Thanks.

Kayak works for me
We've been using a tandem Ocean Kayak for our tender and it has worked quite well. On the water, it tows and tracks extremely well. I've had it behind the boat in 4-8's and never had a problem. Don't have to worry about it filling with water and it has very minimal drag. As far as trailering goes, we are able to get it down in the cabin while on the road. Boom and sail go below to port, across the table and into the v-berth. The kayak goes down below to starboard, across the sink table and then into the v-berth. Has worked well for us. (Last trip out last fall, we also managed to get the kids 2 9 1/2 foot kayaks down below as well.) Good luck on your choice. I suggest you look at what charter companies do. Most used to go with inflatables but are niow switching to hard shell dinghtys.

I have a West Marine inflatable dinghy, around 9' long, with a 5HP Merc. Whenever the boat is in the slip, I hoist the dinghy out with the jib halyard and store it on the bow of the boat (I have a H26), and I hang the little Merc on a motor bracket on the sternrail. When we trailer somewhere, I deflate the dink, fold it up, and put it in its bag, and the bag rides in the cockpit of the boat. Fits nicely on the deck between the tiller and starboard seat. I also lay the outboard on the deck on top of some rags. The boat is wide enough without having that motor threatening to take out toll-booths & signs.

I have been using an inflatable too and have either towed it bnehind off the port cleat with floating line or deflated it and left it inside the cabin when trailering or just daysailing or have left it inflated and lashed it upside down on top of the cabin under the boom (it fits quite well) when left for longer periods in the slip. Lifting and lashing is a little awkward for one person but it keeps the bird poop and rain off the companionway cover. I guess using the spare halyard could help if there was a webbing cradle for it. The outboard stays on a bracket on the port side stern rail when towing. Also never leave anything in the dinghy when towing, especially the oars (bitter experience)!

Go to www.marisafe.com and check out their Plastimo inflatables. We bought a P240 (7.9ft) 3 years ago and have been extremely happy with it. These dinks are CE certified and roll up compact for easy transport or storage. We power ours with a Honda 2hp four stroke motor. Plastimo has been trying to break into the US market for a couple of years and offers this boat at a GREAT price ($600 new on Ebay from time to time) . We cruise in a Hunter 25.5 and have found this tender perfect for us. Marisafe is a distributor for Plastimo products. Good luck!

I tow a WM Compact Rib 310 and am very happy with it - big enough for the family - with 9.9 Merc planes with 3/4 of the crew. Bought a Gerhauer lift fits right in the holder for the mast to maek easy lifting of the 9.9. Stow motor on the cabin floor while underway. Nice thing about the compact rib is it comes with a cover - looks like a windsurfer and deflated will lay on the deck for a gulf stream crossing. Haven't done that yet but that is why i selected it. Towed all the way from Miami to KW two weeks ago and anchored out every night yet went ashore every day. I paid $3K for boat and motor - got the 10% combo discount plus boaught it on one of their 10% off on everything in the store weekends. (plus you get the West advantage cupons).
