Temp alarm with apparent normal temps

First thing I checked were engine mounts. All fine.

Maxprop was sent in 6 years ago for rebuild. And yes, I grease the prop frequently.

Shaft won't back out because the rudder would be in the way, the PSS shaft seal would stop it or if neither of those worked, the flange would stop it.

After finding the shaft movement, I am discounting my first thought that the crunching was from barnacles on the prop. After tieing up on the mooring, I watched and listened to the trans and noises plus the movement of the shaft are from the trans.

And no way in HELL am I diving into the St Lucie river. Visibility is about 3". People are getting flesh eating bacteria and who knows what else from the massive discharges from Lake Okeechobee. A massive environmental disaster. Wish I could leave here now.

I will take a look at the temp alearm wiring.

I have a new HBW250 trans on hold from Transatlantic. $2300, it's only money. I can print more.

Thanx all for playing name that crunch.

uh, really, maybe take it to someone who works on these things for a living... Sometimes ya just gotta pay what ya owe. Or be a cheap ass, don't do nothing and have it take a crap, blow up and maybe sink. That would be entertaining.
Really? You actually took my comments about slamming it into gear at full throttle and using butyl tape seriously? Your gullibility is what is entertaining! Thanks

I saw a ship a sailing: a sailing on the sea: and she was fully laden:..../but she could not get into port because her transmission was shattered. I am sorry for your loss but this calls for a day or two on the hard, minimum. 'If'? you can find a transmission. It is a pull out the old, put in the new replacement job pretty much. If you can not find one then a real extreme solution is a replacement engine/transmission. The old Perkins were popular but the emphasis here is "old". Shop on line first and see what is out there. Somewhere there may be a boat to tired to go a sailing with an engine/tranny that can still give a good show of it.

I have a PSS shaft seal. It won't stop the shaft from backing out. Put a hose clamp on the shaft just forward of the PSS.
