Telstar 28 Trimaran prototypes for Sale

To anyone interested in getting a trimaran, this might be of interest to you.

Performance Cruising, the builders of the Telstar 28 are selling five prototypes. From what I understand, the hull numbers are: 300, 301, 302, 303 and 305. None have the mast raising but 3 do have a mast and are currently in the water, which means they float.

The prices range from $3000 to $10,000. I'm guessing the ones for $3000 don't have a mast.

I would love a new toy I could keep maybe in NY for when I spend the summer here on LI or are they easy to trailer back and fourth from Florida to NY.

Nick, I don't know that it would be trailerable without special permits all the way. Even if the money doesn't get you, the hassle will.

BTW, the Telstar 28 folds to 8' 6" and is legal to trailer without a permit in most states. Once you go above 8'6" in beam, you need wide load permits in most states.

I'd point out that the seller is the factory AFAIK.

Trimarans... for sailors who couldn't figure out how to put training wheels on a monohull.

Actually, if I lean out my window I can see that manufacturer across Back Creek, Eastport/Annapolis.

I've always been puzzeled over the wisdom of hanging lead from the bottom of something...

that is supposed to float. But if you add more hull and sail area, it will go. Of course, then you need more lead....
