Has anyone installed a tv on the new Hunter 356. What type? Where is a good location to place it in the main cabin.

Steve, We have not crossed that bridge yet on our 356, but we have been thinking about it. The only logical place we could come up with is on the forward cabin bulkhead, port side. If you cut into the bulkhead there, you will wind up in the forward berth closet. You will loose some closet space, but the tv could recess nicely. We are also considering doing a flat screen lcd. That would require less closet space. Let us know what you do, how it works, and pictures would be nice. We may not get to ours for a few more months. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije II)

LCD TV on a 356
I have a Samsung 150 MP that is a combination TV, computer monitor plus two other video inputs (VCR? DVD?). You can mount it flat on the wall with a an adaptor arm and it also runs off of 12V DC. I am really pleased with it on land and can't wait to get it onboard now. THe only question I have is where/how do you run an antenna?

Just put one in...
I put in one (150MP/Samsung) in on my 380 at the NAV station. I have it acting as a display for a Laptop, a Portable DVD and the TV. Now I never have to go home! I can even have the Laptop fired up with RayTech Navigator and have a movie playing in the PIP window
I too wired it directly to the breaker panel as it uses 12Vdc as an input. I use one of those portable TV antennas that you can hoist up the mast when needed. I use the topping lift. It comes with about 50 feet of cable and guy line to tie it off. Available at Boat US etc. I have included a link for the mount I use which realy helps!

I've had it 3 months now and it is SO much easier to read than my bigger Sony traditional PC monitor.........plus you get the TV tuner with Picture-in-Picture so you can be using your computer or watching your radar and have the TV show in the bottom right hand corner. Very cool.

I also am using a Samsung 150MP LCD unit, which works just great. I have not yet mounted it permanently, but for the moment set it on the shelf above the nav station panel. When not being used, I store it in a cloth bag inside the storage area behind the port side settee backrest cushion. It is connected to a powered Dantronic antenna at the top of the mast (which also is connected to my FM radio). I got my unit at CompUSA a couple of months ago, and think it was on sale for around $550. Samsung has a newer 15" LCD monitor with TV tuner, but I can't remember the model number. It was quite a bit more expensive, but had a slightly smaller footprint than the 150MP. There may be other manufacturers that have a similar product, but I am very satisfied with the Samsung. I like the flexibility it offers, and the picture is very good. Samsung apparently has created a niche market for this product. I wonder if they know? Pete s/v Sh'boom H-356 #53

Samsung on H380
I mounted my Samsung on the bulkhead and then attached the DSS box down below. See picture. Below the DSS box is a RG-9 connector and then I ran coax back to the starboard transom to a waterproof "flip-top" connector. That way, I can connect the dish when in dock, quick-disconnect when not.
