Hi Folks,
I have a 1989 Catalina 30 Mk11. Had a recent issue with the fuel sender whereby the gauge was jumping around wildly. The effect of this wild behaviour was that needle has fallen off the gauge but I think the instrument is otherwise OK. I have fitted new aftermarket gauge and sender but would keep the original Teleflex one as a spare. My question is...Is it possible to open up the gauge? The bezel looks like it may screw off body but it won't budge (probably original 30yr item) but maybe it won"t? If it cant be screwed off, can it be prised off..or should i just accept it's reached its use by date?
Cheers
Kevin

Remove the bulb holder.
Fill it with bb shot.
Epoxy the bulb holder back in place.
You have a nautical paperweight.

I’ve pulled old gauges apart. Lots of patience bend the crimps as little as possible pry gently, and be gentle, the internals scratch easily

Fuel Gauges Ryan run from $18-$30. That is 3 - 5 Venti Starbucks. Less than a week of coffee for most folk.
Look at the options and find something that is a close match to your current unit and don’t look back. You will be much happier in the long run.
