Which is better to use for companionway hatch doors? I am looking to replace my 4 plastic hatch covers and would like to have wooden doors instead. Pricing is a consideration, where Teak is nearly double that of Mahogany, but which is better? Thanks for the input.

IMHO

Teak is less maintenance than mahogany. Teak won't need the constant attention (but could) that mahogany requires with sanding, varnish, etc.

No subistute for teak long term

No subsitute if you plan on keeping the boat for more than a few years. If you are the type who trades boats every few years the mahogany will look great for a few years.
