Working on a new to me 1984 Hunter 31. Previous owner had the wood trim piece near stern ladder removed. Here's a picture of the wood I'm referring to. https://forums.sailboatowners.com/attachments/hunterseat2-jpg.61377/

My best guess, this is secured with two hinges on one side and then has two rubber bumpers at the other side where the bottom meets the fiberglass. Is there more to it, anybody have a pictures they can share to help me out with this project?

Congratulations on your new boat and welcome to the forum!!

I assume you want to install a new teak trim on the stern as shown below. Could screw it in with the screws recessed then insert bungs to cover the screws.

You are correct. The step is hinged on the side closest to the stern rails and the other side rests on two bumpers. I will send a picture this week when I am back on the boat.

You don't want to secure that teak trim, the access to the emergency steering is below that trim piece. The two hinges allow you to steer with a metal tiller.
