The previous owner of now my 1988 C-27 did not tape off the fiberglass cabin top when he restained the teak. As a result, he got teak stain on the figerglass and now I would like to remove the stain from the fiberglass. How should I do this? What kind of chemicals are safe to use? Thank You

Stain, varnish or Cetol?

If he used oil or stain, water should have washed it away by now. If it's varnish, I'm afraid a heat gun is probably your best bet but that will undoubtedly remove varnish from the teak as well. You could try scraping it off but be VERY careful not to gouge the gelcoat (or teak). I suppose a commercial stripper could work if carefully applied and rinsed thoroughly but I'd be wary of that. If he used Cetol, a 3M scrubber pad (like the scrubber side of a kitchen sponge) should take it off with just a little elbow grease. LaDonna
