Time and cost
Dave, It took two of less than a 40 hours. The majority of that was spent on shaping the pieces that go up the slants by the galley, quarterberth and v berth closet. The flooring is prefinished Brazilian teak purchased at the local home flooring supplier. It's only 1/2" thick by 2 1/2" wide which allowed for some flexibility. Every other row was countersunk and screwed to the fibreglass sole with 1 1/4" stainless screws inserted into a stainless cup washers which I bought from Stirling(also a member of this forum) to give it a tidy factory look. He had these manufactured and are of a really nice quality. The slats without screws are held in place by the tongue and groove and I also ran a small bead of 3M 4000. Removal in the future should be quite simple. For some of the more difficult pieces, we contoured the backside with an orbital sander then used a car scissor jack and 2x4 to the deck head, applied the 3M 4000, inserted the screws and let it set overnight.Total cost was around $350 Cdn. Like any boat related maintenance, if you have to hire someone, I don't think I'd recommend this. What prompted me was that to do the traditional teak and holly, one 4x8 sheet was not enough and well over half of a second sheet would be wasted. At $300 a sheet and the time and effort to apply several coats of finish, I opted for this.
