Getting a bit sick of gelcoat touchups to the deck on my boat. Star cracks, dropped winch dings and boat flex cause me nothing but headaches. Each season I spend mucho bucks just to keep her looking fresh. Nobody can match the nonskid and I am thinking that glueing thin teak over the heavy traffic areas might be the answer. Racing kills boats so what do you think about putting down a bed of forgiving wood to eliminate the seasonal gelcoat coat repair costs? So in a nutshell, would...wood (teak) glued on the decks by my favorite boat repair shop keep the overall costs down. Thanks...

Look this product up before you put teak on your decks.

Very Bad Idea

Teak decks are a maintenance nightmare. Consider spraying them with the stuff they coat pickup truck beds with. It comes in almost all colors and is designed for that type of abuse.

Teak Decks

Covering your decks with teak will cost you more than new gel coat non skid. Then as the other Daryl said, they are a maintenance nightmare. There are people out there that are paying big bucks or selling their boats to get rid of teak decks.

Durabak

I have also read of a product called Durabak. Supposed to stick to anything, impervious to everything, comes in a wide range of colors and tough. Just paint it on and your non skid is refreshed. I plan on giving it a try on my tired decks.
