Looking for suggestions for laying teak over my decks. Looking for a method to make them stronger since the decks (very thin) flex and always require gelcoat and glass repairs to the cracks etc. Do you suggest this method or should I just keep spending cash to fix them every season. Comments

Very Dumb Idea

Talk to anyone who ever had teak decks and they will confim this is a terrible idea. Installing the teak will likely generate leaks. I suggest that you add some glass cloth, mat and some non skid

I own a Cheoy Leaky.....

Ever wonder why Cheoy Lee got that nickname? The teak decks, screwed thru the outer layer of glass into the core. I'm in the proscess of removing them, filling all the screw holes, fairing, laying a mat cap, and finaly painting. Would you like pictures? Pat

Core soggy?

are you sure the core is not soggy between the layers of glass? Don't know what boat you have but I have never seen one with flexing decks unless something was wrong

Find out why.

You need to find out why your decks flex before you do anything else. There are fixes, but you need to know what you are fixing. If the core is rotted, that requires one fix, if you have delamination, that would be another, etc. What type of boat is this?
