My 1980 27' hunter is now away for the winter. I hopped aboard over the weekend to grab something I left aboard and noticed that the Teak floor had a large bulge in it. The teak seems to be lifted, forming a bubble or bulge. What can I do to resecure the flooring in the spring?

Kevin, has the teak plywood sole warped...

or delaminated? If it has delaminated you should be able to squirt water proof glue into that section using a small syringe and then lay a heavy flat object on the bulge to flatten it until cured. If the plywood has warped it depends on the size of the area. You can try drying it our with a heater and coaxing it back to its original shape using screws to secure that section to the stringer beneath the warp. You can also remove that section of the warped sole and take it home to dry it out placing something heavy and flat on the warp during the drying process. If you have access to a local plywood mill they might do it for you by running the piece through their heated panel press. Terry

Thanks Terry.

It appears to be the veneer only and not the plywood sole. I was going to drill a hole , glue and then place a bun in the hole. The syringe idea sounds like an easier and less timely solution. Thanks again, Kevin

I had been worrying about how the teak sole would hold up since the bilge is so shallow and thinking that eventually the moisture would lead to a real issue, so here's what I did : I Used the West System epoxy and covered the entire bottom of the soles.. No problems, but I do get some mold growth down there... I've had some keel bolt leakage.. a very slow rate, but it is something that will contribute to the delamination problem..
