has anyone used one of these?
what is the lowest you can have it setup at?
the boom on my dolphin 23 sits pretty low so I'm wondering if that model of awning would be good or should I go and get a boom tent awning?
thanks in advance

I am also thinking about going the Anchor Shade route instead of the Bimini. I am not sure how low the pole goes but they say it can go up to 8 feet. I guess you can cut it shorter if needed. I like the fact that I can move the shade to different areas on the boat, like over the companionway if it's raining. It just stays in place by putting tension on the straps. I would just need some extra eye straps so I can move it around. I also like the fact I can move the boom while at anchor and raise the shade up to walk under.

I have Anchor shade and have only used it a few times. It's fine for what we wanted. I would only use it when at anchor. What I do is put it above the boom, but then I can only bring as far back as my topping lift. If you have lazy jacks then you wouldn't be able to do this. We put caribiners on the end of the straps to make it easier to clip to the stanchions.

Hello,
I also have the Anchor shade. It can go VERY low. The pole is in two pieces with one pole sliding inside the other. So it could be as low as 2 feet or so. My complaint is that it is not very large. I have the big one and it doesn't provide a lot of shade. It is a good value but don't expect that much shade. Depending on the time of day / angle of the sun, I will mount the pole horizontally along the boom or at an extreme angle.
It is very easy to set up and take down.

I have a Catalina 30, when at anchor/along side the dock I often detach the Topping lift, place a support under the boom and spread a tarp over the boom and back over the Bimini. It is secured by bungies. Keeps the rain or sun off of the cockpit.
