I am converting a tri-axle float into a float-on, haul out for my Tartan 34C. I am having trouble getting measurements for locating the stands. Most cradles here are about 12' long, with 4 posts between 4"6' and 6' apart (Width). I do not have a legible schematic for the boat. I would greatly appreciate some help. I have searched the Tartan Owners web site.
I am planning on 6 posts, and need placement plans, best height and width and distance apart.
Thanks All!

check the catalina search for plans on a stand then pick ot the one that you like ....print the plans and go to work building it for your boat....

Hunter 34 cradle

Not sure if this will help but here's a plan for a Hunter 34 cradle. It's built out of 6" channel.
Cheers

wouldnt lifting the floorboards and looking at reinforcing channels in the liner give a good clue for placement on the outer hull. That gives a pretty good idea where the weight is hung.

A little clarification

Thank you for the helpful suggestions, I forgot to mention in my initial post that the boat is in the water at the moment, and the next time it will be out, I am hoping it will be on this trailer.
I am wondering how high I should make the posts, and how far apart for width. I am planning to land on the bulkheads. Cheers

Since your boat's beam is 10' + I think I would want each side of supports at least 8' apart.
As for the height of each support post I'd want each one to be adjustable, just like a Jack stand.
Given that the draft is just under 4' with the board up, and that none of the supports will touch the hull above the waterline I would think that adjustable support posts that could work from, say, 2-1/2' up to around 3'+.
Of course this is just my guess and it would be best to measure before cutting.

I expect you already know this but you want as little weight as possible on the side supports. The keel carries the weight. The side supports are just to keep her from tipping over. When you park your trailer try to get it level so the boat isn't leaning hard one way or the other.

Jack-stand builders like Brownell know EXACTLY which stand will fit under pretty much every boat ever made with PLENTY of adjustment

And all the older sailboat moving trailers also use them to fine tune

The BIGGEST issue is the keel has to be about 8" to 10 " off the ground MAX as even with 4'5" draft i knock way more tree branches then i would like

So, thanks for all your help. I was able to float on as planned, but had to cut off the middle two stands ( Probably redundant anyway ) as they were too high. Now on to winterizing...
