Tarpon Springs, FL area marinas

Thinking about moving to the Tarpon Springs area. Can anyone suggest some marinas to look at in the area?

Related link will help.Forget Safety Harbor and Oldsmar. You're trapped in Safety Harbor Bay.In the Tarpon area itself there are quite a few marinas with good facilities, etc., but it is a bit of a trip down river to the Gulf.Slips are becoming hard to find down here, so when you find one that is reasonable, grab it.

Marinas

Ron, I have my sailboat, Fraulein II, docked in Tarpon Springs at Anclote Isles Marina. Deep water, easy access to the gulf - about a 40-50 minute motor down the Anclote River. This is actually good in that it lets the engine run awhile. These diesels need to run to stay happy. Call the dockmaster, Glenn Fletcher, at 727-939-0100 between 9 and 5 except Sun and Wed. This is, by far, the best marina on the river. Tell him I referred you.RolandS/V Fraulein II

Thanks for the info. I actually called Anclote Harbors on Friday. They said that slips are getting hard to come by there. I'll give Anclote Isles a call too.I have a 1982 Hunter 33 that I bought last fall. Still getting used to owning (and fixing!) my own. How about you?

Anclote River

The Anclote River is a complete zoo on the weekends. More people with less brains and not a care for sailboats. Marker One Marina in Dunedin is nice with nice access to the Gulf You may want to try Hudson, a town to the north. I got on the waiting list at the city marina in Clearwater and got a nice slip. There are numerous condos and hotels that will rent slips at Clearwater Beach and it is easy access to the gulf. Motoring for an hour down a busy river in 95 degree heat is no fun. The Saint Pete Times has slips for rent in the classified section also.

Thanks for the tips J. I'll probably be down there in Sept looking for housing. Hopefully I'll have a few marinas lined up to check out too.
