Tape residue on dodger plastic

While stowing our dodger recently, we inadvertantly allowed one of the clear windows to come into contact with some speed tape--first instinct was to reach for the "Goo Gone", but reading a review in Practical Sailor I noted they recommend avoiding any petroleum-based products on the clear vinyl... Any thoughts? I was thinking a quick dab of the Goo Gone to remove the tape residue and then a thorough rinse wouldn't do any harm... Thanks, Bill

Use the Tape

Often using the tape it self will remove the excess adhesive. Wrap a peice around your three middle fingers sticky side out and tap on the area where you want to remove the residue. It sometimes takes a while but usually works.

Denatured Alcohol.....

will remove the glue, and will not harm the vinyl. It is an excellant de-greager and cleaner. It will clean your fiberglas inside also. Try it....

vinyl or isen-glass?

Being the cheap or expensive alternatives for clear dodgers and such. Both have different reactions to stuff like wd-40, etc. How about soap and water? Is the adhesive water-proof?

Debra--good questions

I'll give the sailmaker who made it a call to ascertain the material--the adhesive is from speed tape,,didn't appear to be impressed with my effort at plain water.. Thanks! Bill
