I have a 1984 31', 1. How can I tell the level of fuel in the tank? If I used a sounding stick what are the measurments per gallon? 2. How can I tell the level in the holding tank? I have to call for a pump out boat at my dock and have no idea when its full? 3. I have a leak above the rear quater berth, it does not seem to be related in anyway to the cockpit drain, its seems to be comming from the middle seam part, anyone experince this same problem? Thank you

tank levels

Almost none of us know how many gallons are in the tank when the gage reads 3/4, 1/2, or 1/4. It is most certainly not exactly that much of a full tank. But it is close enough for government use. Just make a dipstick to indicate the full level and then divide it into quarters. You will not be far off and after a while you will get a feel for what 1/2 really means. The holding tank level can usually be found by rocking the boat and noting the contents sloshing around. You might need to flush the tank a few times to clean the sides enough to see through them. You can also tap on the side and listen for a change in the sound of the tap and you move down the tank side. I can' help on the leak as I don't have your model boat.

Leval/Leak

On my 84, I go down the lazeret and put a flash light on top of the tank and I can see the level. The best way is to fill the tank and keep track of the hours of run time.I burn a little more than a quart and hr. I had the same leak that you have. Mine came from the port over the nav station. The leak went down the inside of the lip on the liner then out by the skupper side. Re set the port and no more leak. Dennis
