Try www.sunsail.com

Sunsail has a charter base in Palmetto, which is just south of Tampa Bay. Their website has some local info about cruising in the Tampa Bay area. You might also try a web search under "Pinellas County" and see what pops up. Good luck. Peter H23 "Raven"

st. pete

St. Petersburg has a great public marina that is walking distance to everything. Another sleeper marina is Bahia Beach Marina on the SE corner of the bay. I've found the best places to sail in that area were west of the Sunshine Causway. Depending on your draft you can get into some cool places along the west coast of St. Pete beach. Egmont Key, Ft. Desoto, Passage Key (clothing optional, sunscreen strongly recommended),

Great place to sail

I took my boat from TN to the Tampa Bay area last Summer (2000). We have found the area to be fantastic. Great places to visit like the Muni marina in downtown St. Pete, next to the pier. Nice marinas on the Manatee river. Neat places like Egmont Key, Ft Desoto Park, Longboat key. Seafood and Oh yeah, not bad sailing.

kept boat at bahia del sol, ruskin

instead of running the channel to bahia beach marina turn south at the pier toward the river and around the corner. about 75 slips there and you are right there at the resort. walking from bar and restaurant . if you like to anchor try just south of the bridge or in the canal at anna maria to eat at rotten ralphs. good food and drink . i never went up the big river though its listed on all the cruising guides. the vanoy is a good anchorage as wellbut the marina has a forty foot min . its next to the st pete y club and close to the pier. have fun. if you swim in the bay tie youself on the currents run fairly fast and there are 4 tides a day. mg
