I'm looking to purchase a Catalina 30, but not sure what the difference is between the tall rig and the Std. rig. I'v been looking at alot of catalina 30's, and have not had a solid answer to that question. Thanks for you help.

tall rig

I have an '86 tall rigged Catalina. The big difference is that the mast on the TR is 42 feet tall vs 40 feet for the standard. when you add a bow spirt to the boat it adds up to more sail area and a center of effort that is slightly more forward thus balancing the boat better. At least that is the theory! Tim

You can tell the tall rigs when you see them since they have a bow sprit and the standard rigs do not. Check the C30 web site for more info: http://www.catalina30.com/
