Tall Lady Buying a Catalina 27?

I am thinking of buying a C-27, I have taken her for a sail and she sails nice, the rest of the boat is kind of worn but it can be brought back. The problem I could see was that the berths seemed to me to be a bit snug. I am 6'1" and I was wondering are there other tall C-27 sailors out there that could give me an idea of what it is like to use these berths. Are there any modifications that could be adapted to increase the comfort, width, length ? The boat is a standard rig traditional layout; 1980 with the Atomic4,tiller. I think the windows leak so it is very traditional :)

Berth conversion

Kay: I have a Catalina 27. The forward v-berth will probably be a bit cramped for anyone over 5'9", maybe even shorter. Your best bet for stretching out is the rear portside berth. (If your boat is like mine, entrance to the the starboard side is blocked by the galley.) Alternatively, with little work, you can convert the settee into one large fold-out bed. There is a diagram somewhere on the Internet (and I can find it, I'll post it). Essentially, you hinge a plank to each side of the settee and add a fold-down leg on each. When not in use, the planks fold under the cushions. To use, you remove the bottom cushions, unfold the planks (with legs down), replace cushions and use back cushions for additional "mattress". Thanks Paul

Paul; I would like to a photo of that modification sounds like it would work for me. Have you ever seen it in person? Kay

I will find photo or sketch it 4 u

Kay: If I can't locate the photo, I'll sketch out the conversion for you. I am pretty sure I have a "how to" drawing at home that I clipped from who knows where. Remind me if you don't hear from me in a while. Paul

Berth conversion

There's a couple of pictures on the c27 site (see link) of a settee conversion, perhaps they're helpful to you.
