Talkin' about Maine Sail?

Does anybody else follow the trials of this old Maine fisherman? I couldn't find the episode where he finds his boat on the bottom. But it leads up to today's(12/9) strip. Something about "thru-hulls". Wondering if they are talking about Maine Sail? :)

Ed the flow-thru hull theory says that if you have a leak in the bow of the boat you drill a hole in the stern to allow the water to flow thru the boat and out the back. lol

The only way that might work is if the exit hole provides less resistance than the entry hole to the water and is ABOVE the waterline. Seeing as how the water at the bow is under a lot of pressure, it's doubtful it'll work before ya sink. Besides, there's too many obstacles between the bow and stern of most boats.

Ohhhh.. MAN.. You could connect a hose to it and the rear thru hull above the waterline.. Since water flows from high pressure to low, it should come out the back above the waterline?? Then you could hook up a little water turbine and charge the batteries ….for the electric propulsion..?? uuuuuhhhh..We may be on to something here !! ;)

I think the guy who told me how to make my shaft zincs last forever may have written that, he said to put them on the inside of the boat and they will last forever. I guess he is right! LOL

Water Flow:
We always had the kids stand on the bow rail until we had sufficient water uptake and then they ran to the stern and stood around until it came out the exhaust. Somehow after great effort it just didn't work. This led to another problem as the boat got so low in the water that the kids had to use their masks and fins to run the length of the boat. Then they couldn't run fast enough for the water to flow at all.
Now the motor won't start, the wife thinks I yelled too much at the kids and the TV tells me I have a "Weak Stream" and low flow.
What's the problem?

We gotta be careful with this someone might think it works and have to call the coast guard for help.

I'm just wonderin' if I have to get the iron Genny running also to keep my hull speed up or will close hauled be enough??? One has to have the proper speed to keep the water going out the back faster than it comes in the bow. Regarding proper hole size fabrication do I double the size of the aft vs. the bow. Can I use a Marlon through hull or does it need to be bronze? So many questions????
