Check your centerboardJust got my 23.5 back from the boatyard after parting with many $$$$$$. I notice that toward the end of the season we were sailing almost as fast sideways as we were forward. I thought that maybe the halyard that raises and lowers the centerboard was jammed, so had the boatyard check it. Seems the halyard was fine, but the centerboard had a split in it that started at the pivot and continued for almost a foot. The thing was just flopping around down there from side to side! It had to be removed, rebuilt and reinstalled. I was told the centerboard design is very sensitive to twisting forces...like when you stick it in the mud while backing into your slip.Praises to Steve Price Marine in Deltaville, Va. for their overwhelming competence.Alan LongS/V Random Access (1994 23.5)
