Check your centerboard Just got my 23.5 back from the boatyard after parting with many $$$$$$. I notice that toward the end of the season we were sailing almost as fast sideways as we were forward. I thought that maybe the halyard that raises and lowers the centerboard was jammed, so had the boatyard check it. Seems the halyard was fine, but the centerboard had a split in it that started at the pivot and continued for almost a foot. The thing was just flopping around down there from side to side! It had to be removed, rebuilt and reinstalled. I was told the centerboard design is very sensitive to twisting forces...like when you stick it in the mud while backing into your slip.
