taking the mast down on H26

Depends on how you use your boat. H26/H260s don't use a genoa. With the rig design, most of the power comes from the main. Also, if you notice, there's no room for sheetcars on H26/H260s. So, would make triming different headsails difficult. Finally, my H260 is nicely balanced. Putting on a 130 or 150 genoa would probably induce lee helm...the worse kind.
Also, a 26/260 can be a handful to single hand. A roller furling keeps you in the cockpit and off the high trunk top. Also, if you leave the boat rigged in a slip, or on the trailer, then it's no big deal. You are correct that it makes getting the mast up and down more of a challenge (more weight and more to handle).

All I'm saying (in regards to mast up/down) that if I was doing it, I would not leave the sail on the furler. Hoisting it after the mast is up, is not a big deal.
