Mast
On my 272 the mast sits on a plate mounted to the deck. At the bottom of the mast is another plate. There is two small pins at the aft side of the mast plate. These fit on the deck plate forming a hing. The mast needs to be lowered towards the aft of the boat. Once the mast is down, it is slid aft slightly and the pins slide out. The only problem is the pins and the slot where they slide into are small and can break. The mast needs to be lowered pretty much straight back. The use of a gin pole and a couple of people make it easy. On my 272 I plan to replace these plates with an alumnium hing with a removal pin to make this easier. John R.
