Has anyone any experience replacing the 30 gal. water tank in the 272? Mine
is leaking and I've decided to replace it, but am concerned about the difficulty '
involved in removing the old tank. I'm considering installing a flexible tank of less size because the boat is kept in a slip where water is readily available.

Does anyone have recommendations of what I should replace the old tank with? Thanks, Patrick

I need to remove the poly tank and am concerned about the difficulty. I think that once
disconnected it lifts out of the port compartment and goes to its new home for observation. Is there any product that reseals the crack(s)? Thanks, Patrick

I don't know of anything to seal polyethylene. It's very waxy, and not much sticks to it. The way to fix plastic kayaks is to heat weld polyethylene "welding rod" into it. Looks like shoestring licorice.

Lexcel sealant does an ok job of sticking to it for a while, but I wouldn't want to drink Lexcel.

Might be able to get some clear P-tex candle from a ski shop and try to seal the cracks by melting some P-tex in there.

I haven't had a problem with mine (yet), but I wouldn't go the repair route. There's all kinds of alternatives styles and types of tanks on the market, and it's not a critical match or anything, just fill the hole.

I'd get a new tank, or at least strongly pursue it be fore I attempted a repair.
