Tachometer replacement

I'm in the process of installing new electronics which necessitated the temporary removal of the Tachometer as it was in the way. The tach is now 20 years old and this would seem like a good time to replace it. My question is whether the tach is specific to the engine or can it be replaced with any tach? The engine is a Yanmar 2GM20F.

Might have known you would have the answer!

The new link for the vision 333 -163 is https://www.egauges.com/category-s/33254.htm . In the details it says suitable for 4, 6, or 8 cylinders. Will this work with the 2gm. Just wondering if the model might have changed.

Looks the same as mine and the price is still almost the same. It'll read anything your engine puts out. Only thing to watch is the diameter of the face.
