I have the 94 h26. love the roominess but feel the table takes up too much room. looking for ideas to minimize it somewhat but preserve the length of the v bearth....thanks all

What I do.

After reviewing what others have done; cut it down a bit and engineer a seperate piece of material to keep the v-berth a good size, raise it to the roof with a pin drilled higher up on the post, turn it into a drop-leaf arraingement, I decided to just keep it turned around in the v-berth position all the time. It frees up space in the salon, at least four people can still dine, and you can still turn it around. You can check the archives also. alan

John, I cut 16 inches off the table in our H26.

I incorperated the same radius as the orininal table had. We removed the edge trim, cut, sanded, stained with Cetol and then applied clear gloss polyurethane. Since we sleep in the aft lower bunk we don't need the v-berth and table. Our grandkids still have plenty of room in the v-berth alone. This was the single best improvement to the boat! With the table turned around facing forward the cabin space is huge. In conventional position 4 can eat at the table. We bought a piece of aluninium edge trim at the hardware store and screwed it on in place of the rubber trim. It looks perfect. Ray S/V Speedy

Up and Out of theWay

John, You can of course rotate the table to one side or slide it to the cabin ceiling. I got this idea from an earlier post on this site. It opens the whole area up nicely. The pin that supports the table normally can be relocated to this a higher position by simply drilling a new hole thru the compression post. The only tricky part is avoiding the center board line inside. Just drill the new location from both sides instead of all the way thru from one direction. Don't forget to remove any burrs created. Next time you visit the boat clamp the table up and see what you think first. Jeff "Festivity" 1996 H26
