I would like to set up a tabernackle rig on my H30 to be able to lower the mast but I would also like to not give up my roller furling. Is it possible to have both? I know the aluminum extrusion that the jib luff passes through does not want to bend. I was thinking that to lower the mast I could undo the headstay at the tack (with the rolled up jib on it) and bring it back to the mast step so the extrusion didn't flex when the mast came down. Anyone think this is do-able.
Thanks!
Gary

Gary that is the set up I use on my oday. I have the CDI furler and have had. No issues dropping my mast

The cdi furler isn't really for tabernacle. there was a boat in our marina that had one and the rigger still said they should disconnect the furler and either hook it to the lifelines, or bring it back to the mast and tuck it behind the spreaders. You could use an old hank on wire furler if you can find one. My '78 30' has a tabernacle but I have a hank on headsail. Casey's rigging in S.D. is the man who installed the tabernacle on the boat at my marina, not cheap to do. You are welcome to come check my setup out if you want to.
