OK, guys, a few years ago, I would have purchased a bronze T and a nipple to connect it to the thru hull. Now, however, I am constrained by the fact the nipples are only available in Red Brass vs. Bronze. Now, red brass is supposed to be acceptable for salt water use via the documentation I have read (assuming of course, proper alloy). However, there appears to be an issue using red brass with bronze. I don't know how much of an issue this really is with respect to red brass compatibility(vs. yellow), but it's enough to stop me. So, I don't want to use a plastic nipple, so I guess I'm stuck with just putting a T in the hose which doesn't thrill me at all. If the only acceptable answer is to put in another through hull, I'll skip the whole thing. I gotta believe there is a less onerous solution.

Are you saying there are no bronze nipples available? OR no bronze T's available?

I would put a T in the hose before I would put two dissimalar metals together. I agree, plastic nipples are junk. What don't you like about a T in the hose? It's just two extra hose clamps more than the T on the thru hull option?

Rick,

Groco actually makes BRONZE nipples. You may have to actually order them but they are the only ones who make them. Check their on-line catalog for a part number. They even have a machined wrench surface in the middle..

I really don't want that stacked on my through hull, Hermitt. It isn't sanitary and I don't trust it vs. a bronze T properly threaded in.

YES! Problem solved. Thanks, Maine. It wasn't in my catalogs and nothing came up on my seach except red brass labeled as bronze.

PS: it was a bear to find. I had to download the catalog since the on-line store does not list them. Wonder why the chandleries don't carry them?
