For those of us with CNG stoves, and the problem with getting the tanks refilled, I think the future is bright, or getting brighter. My boat is a 1985, CNG was popular after the 70's energy crunch, then it faded off a bit. Now it looks like we may get a resurgence in the near future. What a relief. I was this close to changing out to propane, but since I am in drydock for a couple years, I think time is on our (CNG systems) side. We love to cook and bake on board, and have invested in spare tanks, so a change over would be spending twice the money and giving away the old system. Bring on the CNG!!

How and Where..

do you get natural gas? how available is it?
I remember in the mid to late 1970's, a few people in my area had converted to natural gas to run their pick-up trucks. I didn't know them, just OF them, so I never asked.
BTW, Great boat, I had an 84TR.

Now I get it from the welding supply

I get it at a welding supply store for $15.00 a tank, at the marina it is $75.00, supposedly shipping and handling. It is not readily avaliable at service stations but those of us who have it, you can find a source, even if it from the marina. A tank will last us almost all summer. I have 3 tanks now, for refil & travel time. Supply store is 4 hours away by car.

Like anything else, if enough people start using it, CNG will show up everywhere. Its all about money. I would like to see more of CNG.
