Catalina 30 mk II St Michaels
My '92 Catalina MK II came to me with only the white slightly pebbled fiberglass sole with the covers for the bilge and stuffing box done in a "Holly and Teak" veneer.
It looks very good nice and bright except that the white sole shows the dirt like crazy and has some old tape stains from when there was carpet, several owners ago.

Has anyone had any experience with the synthetic teak products like plasdeck and plasteak or Nu deck in their interior?

Not sure about nu teak and others but

what about painting it a darker color with slight anti skid in it it will hide the stains better, or putting carpet down again? either will be a lot cheaper.

I installed Plas-Deck on my C&C Corvette 31. I like it. Every time I take the boat out someone comments on how nice it looks. This stuff is super durable. It has been out in the sun for almost a year and still looks brand new. I installed it all DIY and although pricey, it was a straighforward install. I removed all of the hardware from the decks (something you don't have to do) which made it a little easier to install. See below for pics.

A few things to consider that I learned:
1. It is heavy - this will add weight to your decks.
2. It gets hot. On the hottest days here in the deep South you may need deck shoes.
3. Order more than you think you need. I ran out twice because I added areas I wanted to cover.

BobCat on the C30 site has used Flexiteek and loves it. I have not seen it but was considering it like you. We throw scatter rugs down. I think it's cheaper to just get a new rug and cover the area.

All of the recent Catalinas use a synthetic teal floor made by Lonseal. Looks good, doesn't spot or stain, is pretty bullet proof. Lonseal had a booth at the Annapolis show last year or the year before. Don't know the cost.

To cook with gas: your boat looks very salty with the new decks, but I've also heard that the synthetic teak can get burning hot underfoot. I would avoid it in the cockpit as a burning behind would not be fun. ps. Is that a small dog or a cat hiding in your mainsail cover? Cheers.

J:

Thank you! You are right about it getting hot on deck on a sweltering day. The cockpit locker doors are shaded by the bimini fortunately so they don't get hot usually. The kitty was to be my "boat kitty" to keep the birds away but she didn't much like staying on the boat. A plastic owl with cloth wings on a stick has replaced the kitty and has kept the birds off the deck. I just need to figure out how to keep the small birds off the mast top. White droppings don't look very nice on the synthetic teak!
