Synt he tic oil -- Don't go there!
I agree with Steve totally, and I responded as strongly to the other post as well. I think the synthetic oil is a total waste of money and can be damaging to some engines. I have a 2003 Honda BF 50 and have had excellent results with the SAE 10W-30 automotive detergent oil, as prescribed on page 64 of the 2003 BF 50 Honda Owner's Manual. I would suggest you go on line to the Honda site and download the Owner's Manual for your engine. I suspect it will have the same recommendations at the 2003 Honda BF 50 but just do what it says to do. Who knows better about your engine? Honda or Mobil oil company. While I'm normally not adament about posting on this site, I would really encourage you to stay away from the synthetic oils since I have personal knowledge of the damage the synthetic oils can do do some engines. Please, just do what the Honda manual tells you to do. As I said before, who should know best? One of the best engine manufacturers in the world or Mobil oil company?
