I use it in my Volvo Penta and Yanmar.Does anyone use synthetic oil in their Universals?
Well, since I am the "Your boat, your choice" guy, I wouldn't and I haven't. I've read enough bad press about synthetics eating seals so I made the decision to NOT make the change. I have a 1986 M25 engine. If ya do, it needs to be real diesel oil not gasoline engine oil.. If the oil and filter are changed every season, there is no real benefit for going to synthetic over a conventional premium diesel oil like Rotella T4.. or its Mobil/Chevron/etc equivalents
Your boat, your choice. .
I've got to wonder where the carbon goes in the synthetic oil when you see so much of it (black as midnight) in the petroleum oils.My synthetic oil never turns Black.
Synthetics are chemically made from Methane, thus avoiding the distillation of crude oil.I've got to wonder where the carbon goes in the synthetic oil
If the synthetic oil is not picking up the particulate carbon from the products of combustion, where does it go ?My synthetic oil never turns Black.
methinks that borders on plagiarism.Your boat, your choice..
Out with the exhaust or in the oil filter. If the synthetic oil is not picking up the particulate carbon from the products of combustion, where does it go ?
OK.... My boat, screw you guys....methinks that borders on plagiarism.
Still wondering where they are on my Volvo Penta.I've read enough bad press about synthetics eating seals
Or your might want to read this propaganda... [Even a video for you Claude]If the oil and filter are changed every season, there is no real benefit for going to synthetic over a conventional premium diesel oil like Rotella T4
True, but main changes were for Sulfur emissions standards.Diesels oils are CE, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, CI-4, CH-4, CJ-4 ( not the Jeep ), CK-4.
I switched to Mobile 1 years ago. Engine runs smoother and quieter. I have a M35ACDoes anyone use synthetic oil in their Universals? Big sale on oil this week and I'm thinking of switching to synthetic. Engine has 1800 hours on it.

A mite harsh, but well stated .OK.... My boat, screw you guys....
Referring to the lack of carbon in the synthetic crankcase oil ........... that can't be true as petroleum lube oil continues to get blacker by the mile . The carbon is NOT being picked up in the filter and continues to accumulate in the oil.Out with the exhaust or in the oil filter.
Why doesn't it accumulate in your synthetic oil ?My synthetic oil never turns Black.
