The sole of my S2 9.2 was swollen from around the head aft 4 ft and 4ft wide. The post to which the mast rest on also rose slightly. Total that the floor rose is about 3/4 to 1 inch. The head door is out of alignment also (connects to the post) I have removed a section of floor and about 800 pds of lead shot it was glassed or epoxyed in and now granuals. 2 stingers run fore and aft and bent outward from the pressure of this. I haven't replaced the lead yet because I can't find out the source of the problem ie why it happen. I still have one small section to remove but I was trying to avoid that. This section is right by the post and head amid ships roughly 1'X1'. So with that said any suggestions on why or how to get the sole back to normal. Thank you, WalterB

exactly what is swollen. The stringers or the sole, or a combination of the two. Seems to me that even if water soaked for a long time the sole wouldn't swell up that much. That has to be at least double the origional thickness of the sole. The stringers in my previous S2 8.5 were glassed pretty good, so they would have to be penetrated to get any water to them. If it is the sole, then it certainly has to come out and be replaced. What does the compression post sit on, as that is also swollen. As I remember, the compression post in the S2 I had, sat on the sole. But I just can't imagine any real wood swelling that much. Particle board will hardly double in thickness when saturated. I would certainly find the source of the water, before putting it all back together.

Photos would help. Are you sure it is only the cabin sole that has swollen. I find it hard to believe that the sole could expand that much and still support the compression post.
