Has anyone had any first-hand experience with the Swiss-Tech Mastlift system for going aloft? It's a self-contained 10:1 purchase winch - hoist it to the top of the mast, hook up your botsun's chair and then pull yourself aloft. With the purchase, 10:1 would be like pulling 20 lbs to hoist a 200 lb person.
I've previously used a standard botsun's chair hoisted by a crewmember on a winch, and currently use the ATN Top Climber (similar to a climbing harness with rope clutches). But I'm finding the Top Climber increasingly taxing to use as I get older. I tried the Mast Mate web ladder (hoists up the sail track); it's well made but it's not for me.
I'll be painting the masts later this summer and would like a system that will be easier to use than the Top Climber.
The Mastlift is pretty pricey but if it works as advertised, it might be worth it.
