My klevis pin snapped off my swing keel on my 1973 Catalina 22. Has anyone experienced this and if so, is it possible to repair in water?

Are you talking about the clevis pin that is mounted...

on the rear of the swing keel. With the keel lowered it is a very simple item to replace. All the old clevis pin parts must be removed before a new pin will fit into the old hole. Before replacing the pin make sure your cable is not frayed and that the thimble and clamp are in good repair. The thimble is the small liner inside the cable as it makes its loop and is double clamped. Check the inside of the hose that the cable passes through for wire snags or roughness. DO NOT REMOVE THIS HOSE AT ANY TIME THE BOAT IS IN THE WATER! IF YOU DO SHE WILL PROMPTLY SINK. If the cable or the thimble is worn then put the boat on a trailer and correct these problems first. This also goes for the hose. If you remove the hose then check the turning ball at that time. If the above are good then hold your breath and work fast to install the clevis assy. Good luck, Ray
