I need to replace the swing keel on my 1971 Catalina 22. Do you know where I might find a used one in good shape and hopefully nearby?

Found this boat, complete in Orlando...have owners number..was going to haul it up to Va to strip the mast and rudder off to use on my 22.

sb, The only swing keels that are in good shape will be from boats that are only a few years old and may not fit your 33 year old boat. I had to replace mine on an 85 Catalina 22. I ordered what was necessary from Catalina Yachts. It took them 3 weeks to custom make it. It cost $1,300 and $150 to ship the 500# item. This is not work that I feel the average boat owner should perform. There is fairly high risk of injury without some very significant hoists and jacks. Moreover, the 4 bolts that have held the old keel swing pin in place for 33 years are likely rust-welded in position, will twist off, and may need to be machined out. In shopping around here on the West coast, the estimates ranged from 3-5 hours' work at $80 - $100 per hour plus $100 to get the boat off and back on the trailer using a hoist. So the total cost for professionally done with new parts is about $2,000. Best of luck

Well to those who say it can't be done I SAY THIS!!! I rebent my mast after being forced by 2 powerboats into a bridge. I made a jig from 4x4's and a come-a-long. Boat sails better than before too... WAAAHOOO I'm back in the water!!!!
