I have a question about the oday 25 swing keel, when the center board is in the up position how much rope should there be in the cockpit? The reason I ask is I just got an oday 25 that has been kept in the water for years and I cannot tell if the board is up or down if it is up it will not go down. There is only about 2' of rope coming out of the tube. Is this the normal amount when the keel is in the up position? It is too cold to get in the water to check if it is up or down.

That is hard to determine. I keep my haul line short on the 23 with only 6" showing when the board is down and about 2' showing with board up. If you are in a slip with fingers on both sides of the boat you could pull a weighted line from both sides along the bottom, find the shoal keel then if you have to let out a lot of line after that the board is down. Another way I've used is a rifle cleaning rod down the tube to push the board down. You need more sections than come in a one kit. Another option is to heel the boat in the slip by having friends pull the top of the mast over and take a look. Welcome to the forum.
More likely than not it is stuck in the up position. No way of knowing what is normal but 2' of line won't be enough to lower the CB all the way.
I'm guessing 4' of line is pulled in when raising the board, not much less.
If the boat has been in the water for years most likely organic growth has keeping the board up. Another possibility is the board or trunk has swollen and causing it to be stuck.

What are your haul out options? You don't have a trailer, I take it?
If it is too cold to get on the water, you live in a northern latitude, what are your tides? Can you find a shallow flat to beach her on during low tide? Make a couple of ways on ropes to slip under her just in front of the rudder and behind the bow like saw horses with carpet. Or something like this:
You have a 2'3" draft with board up and a 1' stub keel. 6' draft with board down. If your cable were attached just above mid-board, you should have about 2' - 3' of cable play. The boards, I don't think weigh very much (between 50lbs to 70lbs?) so the cable attachment could be higher on the board allowing shorter lead.

Thank you all for your help. I do have a trailer and I'm going to haul it out Friday to clean the bottom. I'm pretty sure the board is up because when I tug on the line I can hear and feel it bump the top of whatever is above it. I think it is probably being held up by growth of water stuff.
