My swing keel is stuck in the down position. I have seen posts concerning keel stuck in the up position, but not the down position. I feel that the problem is a detachment somewhere in the system. My problem is that I don't fully understand how the mechanism works. Can I access the mechanism (where rope attaches to hinge?) without taking the boat out of the water? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Jon

Centerboard stuck in the down position
Have someone with scuba gear go under and check it. If it turns out to be a broken shackle or if it's bent, then you could order a new pendant line for your centerboard. When you get the new pendant line, you could tie a strong string to your old pendant line and have the diver pull it toward him underwater and tie the new pendant line on so that you can pull it up to you. Then, all he has to do is shackle the new pendant line to the centerboard and you're right back in business. You may have a cable instead of a pendant line. I don't know. If the board is made of Fiberglass, I'd go with a braid line. Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine could answer any questions you may have on that. He also carries all the O'Day parts if you need them.

Joe, Thanks for your rapid response. I have a friend who is helping me with this who has scuba gear. I am thankful that the centerboard is stuck in the down position rather than the up position as we are racing in the Dauphin Island regatta Saturday. It is the largest point to point race in the country as far as we know. 21 miles from Fairhope Al to Dauphin Island down Mobile Bay. Great party afterwards! Thanks again, Joe. Jon
