I have a broken CB/swing keel. The leash is missing and only have the top have of the keel left. How do I remove the pin to drop the keel for a replacement keel. It seems that the existing pin has to be hammered out or drilled out. Then what should I replace it with? I am also looking for correct dimensions of the CB and length of the line. Thank you, Antonio St. Pete, FL Oday 23 pop-top

Removing Centerboard

I have a Rigging manual for my 1980 Oday23, and here's what it says about the centerboard: The fiberglass centerboard is held in the centerboard trunk by a centerboard hanger that holds the board up and is inserted from the bottom of the keel. Should the centerboard need to be removed, the hanger is easily removed by unscrewing the fastenings that secure it in place on the bottom of the keel.

There are 23's and then there are 23's

There were several different models of the O'Day 23, so be careful. I have seen 23's (pop-tops like yours) where the pivot pin for the centerboard actually went through the keel and was visible and accessible from the outside. Eric's manual sounds like it is for the later models (like mine and his) that were not pop tops, and where the pivot pin is not visible or accessible from the outside. You might want to check with Rudy at D
