I have a Gulf Coast Brand Model 23 I have no idea if it has a swing keel or fixed keel. The only information I could find was a sales booklet which states it has a swing keel. I have searched for the crank access but haven't been able to located it anywhere. I have had several people stop by to show me and they couldn't find it either. Anyone out there know someone who has a Gulf Coast that I can contact? I'm tied to the dock until I find out.

@MiltonB , you'd get more responses if you posted this in Ask All Sailors. Forum Help (Site Talk) is more commonly used for issues with the forums.

Do you have a hole in the cockpit sole about 6" aft of the companionway? Is there a tube (probably rubber) leading from this hole to the top of the swing keel well? Does it ever go on a trailer? If not someone probably dropped the keel and cut the cable. Anything can happen in 45 years. If I remember correctly from the 70s the one I sailed on (one time only) had a winch over the hole in the cockpit built like a come a long with a handle you stuck in and moved fore and aft. The last picture in this old, for sale ad has an electric winch. Take a dive, like rpludwig suggest.

Sailboat data site shows it has a 5 foot draft, swing keel with 500 lb ballast.
