Swing Keel help

Hello, I have a 1978 O'Day 25. The problem is that the steel cable that raises and lowers the swing keel is just flopping loose in the cabin thru a hole near the sink. I am trying to find out what the factory configuration was originally. Right now in order to keep the keel up I have a vice grips pliers clamped to the cable. (Looks pretty shoddy) If you have access to some pictures of what the setup is supposed to look like I can duplcate it and make the system work correctly.

Give Rudy Nickerson a call. http://www.drmarine.com/ Rudy has these pendant lines in stock and he can answer any questions that you may have about your boat. You're going to need to get your boat in a position that will allow you to get at your keel to let the centerboard down. Your OD 25 is a keel/centerboard similar to my OD 222 and it's centerboard configuration is pretty much the same as mine with the exception of the steel cable, which mine doesn't have. For a good idea about how it's all put together, check my picture album on this site under O'Day 222, "Trinkka." My pendant line consists of a braid line with a long stainless steel shackle on the end. The line runs through a small sheave way up inside the keel slot. You can see the sheave in a couple of the pics. If you can get at your keel to let the board down, you could attach a strong twine to the cable from up above to get a tag line through to enable you to attach the new pendant line to, and haul it up.
