I just read Michael's article about his swing keel problem, and my question may help us both. My swing cable broke and I am trying to figure out the best way to fix it. Any suggestions? Thank you

If the cable broke you are going to have to go diving..or have the boat pulled out of the water by a travel lift. Sounds like it hasn't been inspected in a long time. When you get the boat out of the water to really inspect the problem, check the bolts and drop the keel for a pivot pin check. Replace the bolts with new put a new cable on and check the hose and turning ball. How is the winch? check it all. Another question..is your drain valve brass or plastic? if it is brass, you may want to change it over to a plastic model. Check the hose clamps on the drains also. Lot to do once the boat is out of the water. Get the catalina direct parts book. It is about 10 bucks and you can find them on the web for the phone number. They can supply all the parts you need.
