Swing Keel Cable Humm

The keel cable on my '74 catalina 22 swing keel humms and vibrates as we sail. It seems many people have this issue. Most appear to like the noise, I'd rather hear the water swish past the boat. Anyway, someone suggested replacing the galvanized cable with kelvar cable. Anyone do this. Anyone have any other suggested remedies? I have tried to let out cable until it goes slack, but still manages to vibrate. Maybe, as some have suggested, I just need to "turn a deaf ear"

Keel cable hum

Keel hum is common on the 22. It can be used as a way to approximate speed, since the pitch increases with speed. To reduce the hum, don't tighten the cable when the keel is down - slacken it until the hum stops.
